Congratulations to Evan Long – Ivan Allen College Student Legacy Award Winner

The Nunn School would like to congratulate Evan Long for winning the 2013 Ivan Allen College Student Legacy Award.

This award is granted to the student who embodies the exemplary leadership of Mayor Ivan Allen Jr.  In addition to evidence of leadership, the criteria for this award includes demonstrated academic achievement, civic responsibility, moral courage and character. Honors are given to faculty and students as innovators who are shattering traditional boundaries to create solutions that are deliberately interdisciplinary, socially responsible, and ethically conscious, and who are courageously advancing the cause of social justice.  Their character and work embody the values and principles of the college’s founding namesake, former Atlanta Mayor Ivan Allen, Jr.

Evan is a graduating senior from Lilburn, Georgia, studying International Affairs with certificates in Public Policy and European Union Affairs. Evan worked at the Georgia General Assembly during the 2016 and 2017 legislative sessions and spent a summer in Washington D.C. working on Capitol Hill. Since freshman year, he has worked part time at the Georgia Tech Office of Government and Community Relations as a student assistant. He is an officer in Omicron Delta Kappa and served as president of his fraternity this past year. Evan has been a member of over a dozen on campus organizations, notably creating a student academic advising program for International Affairs freshman and representing the Sam Nunn School in the student government association for two years. One of his personal interests is Georgia history which has developed within him a deep respect for Ivan Allen Jr. and his legacy.

Congratulations to Evan for winning the Legacy Award as he clearly exemplifies the characteristics of Mayor Ivan Allen Jr. Evan will be presented the award on the evening of March 28 at the annual Distinguished Alumni Awards reception and ceremony at the historic Academy of Medicine.
