Research Internship, Metropolitan Policy Program, The Brookings Institution – Washington, DC

This summer internship, beginning in June 2018, is a paid opportunity for undergraduate students in their junior year or senior year, recent college graduates or graduate students with an interest in gaining experience and contributing to the work at the world’s leading think tank.

This internship pays an hourly rate of $13.25, and applicants must be willing to commit to a minimum number of hours per week (no less than 24 hours per week, during regular business hours), with some flexibility around an academic course schedule. The internship will last approximately 10 weeks.
The Metropolitan Policy Program is seeking multiple interns to join us this summer. Responsibilities will include research related tasks on various metropolitan initiatives in the areas of advanced economy, community development, opportunity, workforce, economic performance, housing development and global cities.

Interns will have the opportunity to attend internal meetings, local think tank events, professional development workshops, and public Brookings events as well as participate on Brookings sports teams and network with other interns throughout the Institution.

Education/Knowledge/Skills
Graduate or undergraduate students (who have completed their sophomore year) working towards a degree in public policy, urban policy, economics statistics/mathematics, other social sciences, or related fields. Recent college graduates are also eligible to apply.
Knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, ArcGIS, SAS, STATA, R, Python and/or SQL are strongly recommended, but not required. Experience conducting qualitative and quantitative research is preferred.

Successful completion of a background investigation is required for interning at Brookings.
