John J. Sweeney Scholarship: MSc Peace and Conflict Studies

John J. Sweeney Scholarship: MSc Peace and Conflict Studies, Ulster University, Northern Ireland

Applications are now open to all US citizens with a strong link to a US union who wish to enrol on the MSc in Peace and Conflict Studies at Ulster University, Northern Ireland, for the incoming academic year 2018/19 (September 2018 start).

This full-fees scholarship is named in honour of AFL-CIO President Emeritus John J Sweeney, the son of Irish immigrants, who dedicated his life to advancing the well-being of working people, making outstanding contributions both in the US and internationally, which will live on for years to come.

Andrew Ulasich, the 2016/17 John J Sweeney Scholar says: “I chose Ulster University because Northern Ireland is a great place to study peace and conflict and to learn directly from those who have been working to build peace in their society.  This MSc brings together academics and practitioners to provide a deep understanding of how to address conflict at all levels.   This program has allowed me to think deeply about what kind of society I want to live in and how I can contribute to building it in my own city and community.”
