The Advocacy Project is hiring Summer Peace Fellows for 2017!
“The Advocacy Project (AP) is recruiting graduate students to serve with AP’s partner organizations for ten weeks this summer, beginning on June 1. All fellows will receive a $1,000 stipend plus $250 for travel/translation where appropriate. The deadline for applying is March 3, 2017.
Our fellowship program is the only one that matches the skills of graduate students with the needs of human rights advocates. AP has deployed 285 Peace Fellows from 66 university programs since 2003.
Each Peace fellow will support an innovative program for social change, as listed below. They will also provide technical support for their host in at least two of the following: story-telling, program management, IT and social media, organization- strengthening, fundraising, and international outreach.
Each fellow will support one of the following programs:
- Empowering survivors of gender based violence in Mali
- Working with families affected by Agent Orange in Vietnam
- Building an accessible toilet for students with disabilities in northern Uganda
- Placing 51 child laborers from the brick kilns of Nepal in school
- Screening village women for uterine prolapse and arranging for surgeries
in eastern Nepal - Training wives of the disappeared to produce embroidery in midwestern Nepal
- Training refugee women in Jordan to produce embroidery for sale.
A $25 application fee is required to cover our servicing costs.
If selected, Fellows will be required to attend a week of training from experts in Washington, DC in late May.
