Feb. 20 – Nominations for Ivan Allen Legacy Awards

Each spring the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts recognizes an extraordinary graduate student, undergraduate student, and faculty member with an Ivan Allen, Jr., Legacy Award. These are beautiful Frabel glass sculptures. The awards also come with stipends of $1,000 each.  The awards are made possible by Pamela and Stephen Hall.

Student nominees should demonstrate evidence of leadership, engagement, and academic achievement. Nominations must be made by faculty members or academic advisers. Students who feel they are eligible and would like to be nominated for this award should consult with faculty members or advisers in their schools to secure nomination.

Faculty nominees should demonstrate outstanding records of service and leadership.  In the case of the faculty award, we rely on school chairs to supply names of nominees.  However, faculty who feel they are eligible may approach their school chairs.

Winners are chosen by a committee of IAC faculty.

The awards will be formally presented at the IAC Founder’s Day dinner on April 7, 2015.  The dinner will be at the Academy of Medicine at 7 pm.  Award winners will be seated with Pamela and Stephen Hall, generous benefactors of the Ivan Allen College.  Award winners will also join the Halls for breakfast on Monday, April 6.  The time and location of the breakfast will be announced to the winners.

Nominations must be received by February 20, 2015.

The nomination process is simple. Send a short nomination letter from each nominator and then each nominee must email a resume or c.v. Send nominations to Associate Dean John Tone, Ivan Allen College, Georgia Tech. Email address: john.tone@iac.gatech.edu.
