Park(ing) Day 2017, Georgia Tech Student Planning Organization – Atlanta, GA

Each year, the Student Planning Association from the School of City and Regional Planning hosts Park(ing)Day in Tech Square. Park(ing)Day(ppparkingday.org)) is an international event that encourages people to think about how space is used by turning metered parking spaces into green space, public space, and other creative uses.

This year, we want to welcome students and organizations from our fellow Atlanta colleges and universities to participate and host a parking space in Tech Square.

In previous years, student groups or local businesses and organizations have hosted spots to create “parklets,” including areas for seating, games, or to promote their business or cause. This year’s event in Tech Square will feature various activities that enliven spaces usually occupied by parked cars and we encourage you to participate. People coming by the spaces are welcome to participate in events or hang out in our space at any time from 11am to 3pm.

Want to host a parking space? Interested in providing give aways, or donating materials such as plants, buffers, or seating? If so, contact Sarina Sawyer (sarinasawyer@gatech.edu) or John Saxton (jmrs@gatech.edu).
