After School STEM Clubs Volunteer Activity through Emory University

Whitefoord Elementary and Toomer Elementary are seeking undergraduate and graduate students (postdocs, staff, and faculty also welcome) to lead activities in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) for students in grades 3-5. Sessions will take place on Thursdays from 3:00-4:30pm (add time for travel/setup and cleanup) twice per month (once at each school) from October through April. We are looking for several general volunteers to assist current planned activities related to Edible School Yard programs, earth science (soil, weathering, rocks, fossils) and evolution. We also need students interested in designing and leading their own activities related to the topics most important to the schools. We would prefer volunteers committed to attending multiple sessions at one or both of the schools, but we will also accept one-time volunteers.

If you are interested, please sign up here:  https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/ElementarySTEMclubs and save the date for an orientation/planning session on Thursday October 4th, 4pm at the Center for Science Education, 1399 Oxford Road, Atlanta, GA 30322.  Tech students can take the Emory Shuttle to get to Emory.

This opportunity is brought to you by the Emory College Center for Science Education, the Emory Center for Community Partnerships, and Graduation Generation – Atlanta.
