Ivan Allen Legacy Awards Announcement
Each spring the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts recognizes an extraordinary graduate student, undergraduate student, and faculty member with an Ivan Allen, Jr., Legacy Award. These are beautiful Frabel glass sculptures. The awards also come with stipends of $1,000 each. The awards and the stipends are made possible by our generous supporters, Pamela and Stephen Hall.
Student nominees should demonstrate evidence of leadership, engagement, and academic achievement. Nominations must be made by faculty members or academic advisers. Students who feel they are eligible and would like to be nominated for this award may want to consult with faculty members or advisers to secure a nomination.
Faculty nominees should demonstrate outstanding records of service, leadership, scholarship, and teaching. In the case of the faculty award, we rely on school chairs to supply names of nominees. Faculty members who feel they may be eligible may approach their school chairs to request a nomination.
Winners are chosen by a committee of Ivan Allen College faculty.
The awards will be formally presented at the Ivan Allen Day dinner and celebration on the evening of Tuesday, March 12, 2019, at the historic Academy of Medicine. A reception and buffet dinner at 5:30 p.m. will be followed by the awards program at 7 p.m. Award winners will also join the Halls for breakfast. The time and location of the breakfast will be announced to the winners.
Nominations must be received by January 21, 2019. Please note the earlier deadline this year!
The nomination process is simple. The selection committee must receive a nomination letter and a resume or c.v. for each nominee. These must be uploaded at one of the following sites.
