The Georgia Department of Economic Development is the state’s official marketing arm, the lead agency for attracting new business investment, encouraging the expansion of existing industry and small businesses, locating new markets for Georgia products, attracting tourists to Georgia, and promoting the state as a location for film and digital entertainment projects, as well as planning and mobilizing state resources for economic development.
Practical Experience Gained from this Internship
The intern will get the opportunity to:
– Network with competitive international and regional businesses
– Learn effective communication
– Learn formal business drafting and editing
– Learn international marketing promotional tools
– Learn coordination and project management in a complex and global competitive environment
Duties of Intern and Desired Qualifications
The intern’s major responsibilities are assisting in developing marketing strategies and implementing programs that specifically target the Chinese and greater Asian markets. The intern’s work will include but is not limited to:
– Research and edit marketing and tourism strategy materials
– Assist in the visitation of potential investors to the state
– Assist in coordinating incoming Chinese government delegations
– Assist with special mission and trade shows to China
– Design and edit promotional brochures and online materials
– Develop and edit itineraries and tour operator packages
– Assist with any work assigned by the department

Fall 2015 semester
Compensation
Internships are unpaid; course credit where applicable
Location
GDEcD is located on the Georgia Tech campus at the corner of spring and 5th Street and is MARTA accessible.
Work Hours
Part time, Minimum16 hours/week; 8:30 am – 4:00 pm; at least 2 full days a week (M/W or T/R)

The internship opportunity is open to undergraduate juniors and seniors. The ideal candidates will have:
-A strong interest in Chinese culture and business
-A strong interest in the development of competitive economic markets and international investment
-A strong interest in promoting increased global commerce and tourism.
-Excellent English reading and writing skills
-Some level of Mandarin Chinese is preferred
-A good understanding of principal business, economic, and marketing concepts
-Ability to work with a global team
