Fall 2018 Internships, WildArk – Atlanta, GA

About the Program

WildArk seeks individuals who are passionate about making a difference and who are eager to help grow and promote the WildArk mission while learning and developing their practical skills.

Responsibilities:
Intern responsibilities include working on land conservation, eco-travel and women in conservation research, as well as impact measurement, e-commerce and
communications content projects. Interns will be given a specific project within areas where skill sets and interests align. Each project will involve comprehensive industry research, data collection and reporting that has the potential to impact the direction of our work on the ground. Interns will also help with general tasks including: growing the social following of the WildArk brand, creating original content on positive conservation stories and connecting with industry leaders.

Requirements:
– Available at least 5-10 hours per week (remote work options available)
– Able to work from the Atlanta WildArk office on the Beltline in Old Fourth Ward at least once a week (Fridays)

Intern Positions, Fall 2018

Conservation Finance Internship
Sample Responsibilities:
– Conduct research profiles on conservation finance organizations to curate into an internal database
– Help to develop a master strategy for conservation-related investments globally
– Participate in conversations around current investments
– Attend relevant events in and around the Atlanta area

Conservation Impact Internship
Sample Responsibilities:
– Perform detailed analysis on large quantities of quantitative and qualitative data in order to gain insight on overall environmental and social impact
– Develop intelligent reports with effective visualization based on key impact measurements, present to team monthly

– Identify gaps for quality improvement and help determine plan to better outcomes, if
needed

Conservation Research Internship
Sample Responsibilities:
– Support the “WildArk 100” project in developing an informational database on one hundred focal species
– Develop a comprehensive lists of conservation organizations with varying qualifications (such as species, region, size, etc.)
– Utilize network intelligence strategies to create lists of notable conservationists and their expertise
– Expand upon established lists of species experts and including relevant contact information

Women in Conservation Internship
Sample Responsibilities:
– Conduct research on women in conservation programs, seeking out links to our current work globally
– Help to develop a master strategy for WildArk’s women in conservation efforts
– Participate in conversations around current women in conservation initiatives
– Attend relevant events in and around the Atlanta area

Sustainable E-Commerce Internship
Sample Responsibilities:
– Conduct research on sustainable products that can be sourced locally around our conservancy sites
– Help to develop a master strategy for WildArk’s sustainable e-commerce efforts
– Participate in conversations around current sustainable e-commerce initiatives
– Attend relevant events in and around the Atlanta area

Learning Goals
At the start of the internship, the supervisor and intern will create a list of learning goals the intern hopes to accomplish. The learning goals serve as the academic and professional roadmap for the intern’s time with WildArk. This process will help to clearly identify the intern’s learning objectives. During this time the supervisor and intern will discuss workplace requirements, intern responsibilities and expected hours.
