According to Aftercollege.com, more than 4 out of 5 graduating seniors in May 2014 graduated without a job. While the job market has improved and the unemployment rate has declined, the entry-level job market still has a lot of room for improvement.
An important reason is that the market for new college grads has changed. More than 75% of the new jobs created by the U.S. economy are created by employers of 500 employees or less. These companies typically don’t interview on campus. Rather, they rely heavily on referrals from employees, clients, vendors and other partners.
At GradStaff, we know that small and medium employers offer fantastic job opportunities. However, given their reliance on referrals, the key to breaking into these employers is networking.
