International Project Management Internship, RTI – Durham, NC

Our staff provides research and technical expertise to governments and businesses in more than 75 countries in the areas of health and pharmaceuticals, education and training, surveys and statistics, advanced technology, international development, economic and social policy, energy and the environment, and laboratory and chemistry services.
 
The selected intern will work closely with project coordinators and project assistants to provide operational assistance for his/her assigned programs. S/he liaises with the Project Coordinators and Project Associates team to support timely and high-quality work on administrative tasks conducted for programs under implementation. S/he adds value by learning and implementing routine administrative tasks which adhere to RTI and USAID protocols. Additionally, s/he works to understand the overall processes and best-practices of project management for international development projects. This position can be based at RTI’s office in Research Triangle Park, NC, or downtown Washington, D.C.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Assist project coordinators in reviewing monthly project financial transactions and invoices; responsibilities will
include processing journal entries, updating monthly project financial reports, and providing ad hoc financial analysis
• Facilitate recruitment, fielding, and support of consultants
• Generate requests, modifications and extensions for consulting agreements, as needed
• Collect and process consultant assignment reports, expense reports and invoices for payment
• Help maintain and input data for tracking project activities
• Process routine project tasks and documents related to travel, sub-partners/subcontractors, vendors, etc. using
approved templates
• Organize and maintain project filing systems
• Assist with various tasks as required.
