About Lucy

Lucy’s passion for public service was awakened by her family tragedy in 2012. She is the mother of Jordan Davis, who was shot and killed at a gas station in Jacksonville Florida by a man who was objecting to the music Jordan was playing in his car.

Losing her son in such a senseless act of violence has fueled Lucy’s lifelong commitment to community activism and political engagement. As a child, Lucy traveled with her family attending marches and rallies supporting the civil rights movement.

Today, Lucy holds dual roles as the national spokesperson for Everytown for Gun Safety and Moms Demand Action. She travels the state of Georgia speaking on these issues and why they matter to her. Her extensive work throughout this state and country, Lucy has garnered national praise and encouragement. She won “Mother of the Year 2016” by VH1 television, and was voted as one of Refinery29’s 26 National Treasures. She has spoken on Georgia Public Television, CNN, MSNBC, HLN, and TV One.
