Policy Analyst – Foreign Policy Initiative – Washington, DC

 

Position description

 

The Foreign Policy Initiative, a nonpartisan and nonprofit 501(c)3 organization in Washington, D.C.,  seeks a full-time Policy Analyst to work as a member of the policy team on issues related to U.S. foreign and defense policy.  Under the direct guidance of the Policy Director, the Policy Analyst will take the lead on researching, drafting, and fact-checking written products, which may have individual or institutional authorship.  Other responsibilities include actively tracking Executive Branch actions and policies, Congressional legislation, and news reports for breaking developments; attending policy discussions and events; maintaining the FPI website and online social media; meeting with staffers in the Executive Branch and Congress, foreign embassy officials, and other relevant experts. – See more at: http://www.foreignpolicyi.org/Employment#sthash.SFplzkEe.dpuf

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.Strong communication skills – writing, speaking, interpersonal, presentation.

 

  • Ability to manage and prioritize tasks, to balance multiple projects, and to meet rapid and evolving deadlines.

 

  • Familiarity with Executive Branch policymaking process and Congressional lawmaking processes strongly preferred.
