Press, Political & Public Affairs Intern – British Consulate-General in Atlanta

FCO Local Posts – Press, Political & Public Affairs (PPPA) Intern – Atlanta Apply by January 2, 2017.

For 2017, the Consulate-General team will welcome an intern to support projects for our Press, Political, and Public affairs team. From participating in the British Consulate-General’s internship programme, students can expect to gain experience with collaboration and working in teams, written and verbal communication, event planning and project management, and business and government in the UK and Southeastern United States.

The Press, Political and Public Affairs section serves as the communication and engagement hub for the Consulate-General. It monitors important political, business and economic developments in the region, acts as the primary point of contact with journalists and leading political figures, and shares UK policy materials with various publics. This section also arranges visit programmes for British VIP visits to the region, represents the British government at official functions, and monitors state legislation that could impact UK interests. Students interested in public relations, marketing, event planning or government relations would especially benefit from this experience.

As a small office that works collaboratively, some occasional projects that support our Executive Office may occur. Supporting the Consul General, the Executive Office plans Consulate-wide events and initiatives and undertakes extensive contact with external audiences.
