Research & Evaluation Intern, FHI 360 (Washington, DC)

ABOUT THE POSITION

FHI 360 serves more than 60 countries, all 50 U.S. states and all U.S. territories. We seek qualified candidates for the position of Research Intern in Washington, DC.

The Research Intern will be working with the Research and Evaluation Department, housed in the Global Education, Employment, and Engagement Business Unit.  The intern will provide ongoing research, data analysis, and communications support to multiple education and early childhood development programs including the Middle East Education Research, Training and Support (MEERS) program, the Dubai Cares education in emergencies research study in Northeast Nigeria, and the LEGO Foundation Playful Parenting research program.

Tasks will include the following:

  • Collecting data from secondary sources
  • Writing data snapshots and desk reviews on key topics
  • Supporting survey and in-depth interview instrument creation
  • Data cleaning and organizing
  • Qualitative data coding and analysis
  • Contributing to research studies and assisting with writing, reviewing and editing research manuscripts
  • Managing communications about research activities and products, including blogs, webinars and newsletters

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in International Development, Economics, Education or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Master’s degree students will be considered.
  • Completed coursework in qualitative research methods including development of instruments, data collection (i.e. interviews, focus groups, observations), and analysis.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of the field of international education and/or early childhood development.
  • Familiarity with qualitative analysis software: Dedoose, NVivo, Atlas.ti, etc. is desirable.
  • Familiarity with international education and/or early childhood development data sources and indicators is desirable.
  • Language skills in French, Spanish, or Arabic are desirable.
