Undergraduate and graduate (Masters) summer 2020 degree candidates who have two or fewer classes remaining to complete degree requirements after the spring 2020 term will be eligible to request participation in the spring 2020 ceremony. Applicants must be in GOOD ACADEMIC STANDING and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00 for Bachelors, and 2.7 for Masters. Extenuating personal and family circumstances or issues related to the proximity of the student’s home to Atlanta will also be taken into consideration.
Summer 2020 degree candidates who do not meet these requirements will still have the option to participate in the fall 2020 Commencement ceremony. Information detailing how they can participate in the fall 2020 Commencement ceremony will be sent to all summer degree candidates via their Georgia Tech email account in July.

Deadline to submit your request to participate in the spring Commencement ceremony: Wednesday, March 11, 2020
The form to request permission to participate in the spring 2020 Commencement ceremony will be available online for all active summer degree candidates that apply for graduation until Wednesday, March 11, 2020 deadline. Note: The Online Application for summer Graduation (OAG) will close on May 22, 2020. However, students must submit their summer OAG’s by March 11, 2020 in order to petition to walk at the spring ceremony. Candidates who submit their OAG’s after March 11, 2020 will have the option to participate in the fall 2020 ceremony.
- Summer candidates will not be listed in the spring program. Students may request a copy of the Fall 2020 program be mailed to them in December.
- Summer students will not receive honor cords for the spring ceremony.
- The Office of the Registrar will process the request forms and communicate directly with the students.
