The American Chamber of Commerce in the People’s Republic of China is a non-profit, non-governmental organization whose membership comprises more than 3,800 individuals from over 1,000 companies operating across China. The chamber’s nationwide mission is to help American companies succeed in China through advocacy, information, networking and business support services. AmCham China is the only officially recognized chamber of commerce representing American business in mainland China. With offices in Beijing, Tianjin, Dalian, Shenyang and Wuhan, AmCham China has more than 60 working groups, and holds more than 300 events each year.

Job Description

AmCham China is looking for interns for Spring 2016 for several departments. Only currently enrolled students are eligible, and applications must include a 1-page cover letter and 1-page resume.

Communications Department Intern (Digital and PR)
*Develop website content
*Assist with AmCham China announcements and events
*Assist with multimedia resources (podcasts, photos and possible video)
*Proofreading and formatting of site content
*Help to coordinate social networking sites
*Research best communications practices of other chambers
*Support Business Now content development
*Support Communications Department staff on projects as needed
 Required skills:
*Experience in writing and editing
*Healthy interest in social networking sites
*Knowledge of multimedia platforms (i.e. podcasting)
*Proficiency with web-based tools
*Familiarity with web editing and multimedia software
*English-Chinese translation skill is a must

Communications Department Intern (Magazine)
NOTE, applicants must also submit a writing sample from a published work (magazine, blog) or academic writing (no more than 3,000 words).
*Pitching and developing articles
*Transcribing and fact-checking interviews
*Writing summaries of chamber events
*Taking and organizing photos from chamber events
*Copyediting and proofreading magazine
*Supporting Communications Department staff on projects as needed
Required skills:
*Experience in writing and editing in an engaging, journalistic style
*Ability to meet deadlines
*Familiarity with using style guides, preferably Associated Press style
*Ability to work effectively on a team
*Familiarity with Adobe InDesign desired, but not required

Operations and Events Department Intern
*Attend events and write short reports to be published in weekly e-newsletter and monthly magazine
*Support signature events such as forum conferences
*Support AmCham-China initiatives in small business, trade and investment
*Support Operations Department staff on projects as needed
Required skills:
*Solid writing and editing skills
*Experience in research
*Attention to detail
*Experience or interest in event support
*Both native English and native Chinese speakers are encouraged to apply

Government Affairs (native Chinese and English speakers) 
* Support the team in the process of drafting and editing the annual White Paper on American Business in China
* Support the team in data collection and analysis for the annual Business Climate Survey
* Support events on an ad-hoc basis at AmCham China
* Research and provide up-to-date memos on current US and China policies effecting business in China
Required Skills:
*Strong writing and editing skills
*Experience in research
*Attention to detail
*Flexibility and initiative-taking
*Solid understanding or academic background in US-China economic policy
