Carter Center Graduate Assistantship Program

The Carter Center Graduate Assistantship Program offers a limited number of funded opportunities for currently enrolled master’s degree and doctoral students. Graduate assistants must make a nine to 12 month, 20-hour-per-week commitment, beginning with the fall intern class in late August and ending in the spring or summer. Graduate assistants will receive a compensation of $14 per hour. Please note that these opportunities are based in Atlanta. The program areas offering graduate assistantships for fall 2017 are: China, Conflict Resolution, Democracy, Global Access to Information, Human Rights, Latin America and Caribbean, Trachoma, and Mental Health.  Detailed descriptions of each position can be found on the Carter Center website at www.cartercenter.org/involved/educational-programs/graduate-assistantships-offered/index.html.

In order to be eligible, applicants must be enrolled in a graduate or doctoral program throughout the duration of the assistantship. At the start of the program, qualified applicants must have completed a minimum of two semesters of their academic coursework in a master’s or post-master’s level program. Candidates who will graduate from their master’s, post-master’s, or doctoral-level program before the session ends are not eligible. There are no age restrictions or citizenship requirements for graduate assistants.

The application deadline for the fall 2017 graduate assistantship is June 15 with a start date of August 22. The online application along with detailed instructions are located at internapply.cartercenter.org/Internship/default.aspx.
