Communications Internship
Georgia Department of Economic Development, Workforce Division
Dates of Internship: August 8, 2014 – January 5, 2015
Hours: 8am-5pm Monday – Friday, 40 hours/ week
Pay: $8.00/ hour undergraduate $10.00/ hour graduate
The Communications Internship position is charged with assisting the Communications Manager in carrying out the Georgia Department of Economic Development, Workforce Division communications plan. This includes daily posting and monitoring of social media outlets (primarily FB/Twitter), regular website maintenance, and following workforce related news media. Writing skills are critical and the intern will be expected to help draft and edit press releases, news articles, and blog posts. The Communications intern is also expected to attend and help prepare for Go Build Georgia Advisory Council meetings as directed by the Communications Manager.
The position also requires working with members of the programmatic team on WD initiatives that might require writing, scheduling or researching skills.
The ideal candidate will have experience with various types of writing platforms including social media, blogs and press releases.
