The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is looking for a full time Copper Cap Intern or Developmental Contract Specialist (GS-1102-7T12) to work at Kirtland AFB, Albuquerque, New Mexico.

The Copper Cap position is centrally managed and funded by the Headquarters Air Force Personnel Center, Civilian Force Renewal & Development Section Program and administered by the Contracting Career Field Management Team (CCFMT), HQ AFPC/DP2LA, 550 C Street West Suite 57, Randolph AFB Texas 78150-4759. This program is intended to develop individuals with a breadth of experience enabling them to deal effectively with change and complexity within the Air Force environment as it relates to the contracting career field.

The Developmental Contract Specialist position is locally managed and funded by 377 Air Base Wing (ABW). Developmental Contract Specialists are presented the opportunity to obtain breadth of experience within the 1102, Contracting Career Field.

The incumbent provides GS-1102-12 contracting services such as acquisition planning, solicitation, proposal analysis, negotiation, contract award and post-award management activities. Incumbent also completes developmental assignments and training outlined in the formal training & development plan as tailored for the requirements of each installation. Rotation assignments may provide opportunity for the intern to gain experience in pricing, systems, research and development, specialized, and base level contracting.

Copper Cap positions are at grade level GS-7 and GS-9.
The recognized full performance level, or “target” grade, for this position is GS-12.

-Salary $47,148 – $108,724

-Potential Recruiting incentives are CSA funded for Copper Caps ($5K for masters; $7K for hard-to-fill locations).
