OVERVIEW
The McColm & Company Summer Internship Program is an opportunity for college students or recent graduates to learn the fundamentals of management consulting and international program management. Interns are expected to commit at least 20 hours per week over a period of three months.  Successful candidates will have the opportunity to contribute to the design of their internships based on the firm’s current opportunities and project portfolio. Interns may choose to float among programs and gain experience across a range of projects, or to focus on gaining experience in a specialized area of the firm’s practice. In all cases, Interns will collaboratively design and deliver a defined project that can be completed during their internship and produce a thought leadership article that will be disseminated across the McColm & Company network. Internships can be undertaken at our offices in Washington, DC, Kabul, Afghanistan

REQUIREMENTS

  • Candidates should be currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree, or a be a recent graduate
  • Strong understanding of or interest in foreign affairs, international business, or international development
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate clearly and concisely and to write for diverse audiences
  • Excellent computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office – PowerPoint, Word, Excel
  • Ability to work independently, under deadline pressure and with diverse teams as required
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships with key internal and external contacts, including senior management, subject matter experts and international staff
  • Entrepreneurial character, professional demeanor, strong attention to detail
  • High level of emotional intelligence, patience, flexibility and can-do attitude

Interested candidates should write a letter no more than two pages in length explaining their interest in the program and what practice area most interests them at McColm & Company, along with any preferences or project ideas they may have for structuring their internship.
