National Democratic Institute Intern Positions

Headquartered in Washington, D.C., NDI maintains offices in more than 60 countries on five continents. Its diverse workforce of employees from 75 countries is united in the belief that while there is no single democratic model, certain core principles are shared by all democracies.

NDI is currently looking for undergraduate or graduate candidates for internships with NDI’s Latin America and Caribbean team for the Spring 2013 intern cycle. The intern will be responsible for conducting country and program-specific research, attending meetings on Latin and Caribbean Affairs and providing administrative support for country programs.

The internship is full-time and PAID. A recent Nunn School graduate recently began working there, and had this to say:

“NDI is an incredibly diverse, non-partisan organization that works with governments, legislatures, political parties, and civil society organizations across the globe to strengthen and establish democratic institutions. Since its founding in 1983, NDI has worked in over 110 countries to reinforce the message that while there is no single democratic model, certain core principles are shared by all democracies, and interns are an integral part of this work. Interning at NDI offers a great opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience working in programs that have a direct effect on the ground. Interns assist in research, translation, correspondence with our field staff, and event coordination, among other things. Interns often have the chance to meet with high profile members of the international policy community, representatives of foreign governments and organizations, and human rights activists. Interns are also encouraged to attend meetings, briefings, and other events at think tanks and embassies around Washington D.C. I’d love to see more students from Tech applying to intern or even work here!”
