Public Policy Internship at Amazon

“The Public Policy Intern will join a growing, dynamic team and be able to immediately enhance Amazon’s advocacy on a broad range of public policy issues. Like our business interests, our policy issues are broad, forward-thinking, and driven by what is best for our customers.

Working with the entire US public policy team, the Public Policy Intern will help develop Amazon positions on issues, research policy issues, and represent the company at meetings.

The Public Policy Intern will work collaboratively with the team to ensure alignment between business priorities and public policy goals.

The Public Policy Intern will assess and communicate potential government activities back to the public policy team, develop mitigation or enhancement strategies and positions, and help with external advocacy efforts, outreach programs, and key initiatives in concert with business objectives.

The position is based in Washington, DC.

Educational Requirements:

Ongoing undergraduate or graduate study is required.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A keen working understanding of the legislative and regulatory policy process and the technology industry. Strong skills in research and using spoken and written rhetoric to persuade and inform.
  • Focus and Deliverables:
  • Work collaboratively and transparently with the US Public Policy team and within the Corporate Affairs team to ensure alignment between core business priorities and public policy goals.
  • Anticipate challenges/obstacles our business could face as the public policy landscape evolves.
  • Ensure policymaker awareness of Amazon’s business model. Help coordinate external advocacy efforts, outreach programs, and initiatives in concert with business objectives.
