Research & Development Internships, American Institute for Contemporary German Studies – Washington, DC

AICGS internships aim to:
Introduce interns to all aspects (administrative, programming, development, research) of an American nonprofit public policy institute
Provide opportunities for interns to carry out their own research projects and publish work on the Institute’s website
Involve interns in ongoing AICGS projects and events of the three program areas:  Geoeconomics, Foreign & Domestic Policy, and Society, Culture & Politics
Provide opportunities for participation in similar events in Washington, DC, organized by other policy institutions or think tanks.
AICGS offers two internship positions (Research Internship and Development Internship). Please specify which position you are applying for in your application.

Research Internship
Research Interns are given significant freedom to explore their own research interests and publish their work on the AICGS website. This position primarily works with the Senior Program Coordinator.

All Research Interns will be involved in the following tasks:
Support staff and fellows with their research projects and initiatives
Provide event support (including contacting participants, event set-up/take-down, event registration and follow-up, and publications mailings)
Taking notes and writing summaries at AICGS events for the AICGS website and electronic newsletter
Daily English and German language newspaper survey
Day-to-day administrative duties

Development Internship
Development Interns learn how a nonprofit functions as a business entity and become acquainted with the logistics of organizing the Institute’s annual fundraising dinner, the Global Leadership Award Dinner (GLAD). This position primarily works with the Development Coordinator.

All Development Interns will be involved in the following tasks:
Researching and identifying potential partnerships between the Institute and private firms
Contact database management
Researching changes in German-American business relationships
Provide event support for GLAD
Administrative and financial project support
