Research & Knowledge Management Internship, Ashoka Changemakers – Arlington, VA

Ashoka is the world’s largest network of social entrepreneurs and changemaking institutions, with 3300 Ashoka Fellows, 200 Changemaker Schools and 35 Changemaker Campuses in over 90 countries. Ashoka Changemakers is an Ashoka program that rapidly accelerates the impact around critical social issues by building and nurturing networks of leading changemakers and empowering these networks to ignite sweeping change in their fields. Since our inception we’ve worked with several leading companies and foundations to build networks, share knowledge and channel investments in issue areas such as the future of work in Africa, children’s wellbeing in the United States and the evolution of human rights in South America.

All applicants must be flexible, self-directed, and possess a strong entrepreneurial spirit. We appreciate interns who have excellent writing skills, good time management, are on task, outgoing and willing to learn new material. Most importantly, we want interns to support Changemakers’ vision, and be able to dedicate themselves wholeheartedly to their work while they are with Ashoka.

Our goal is to ensure every intern has an excellent professional development experience. We regret that we can only offer unpaid internships at this time. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, but please keep the following recommended timelines in mind. Internships are 8-10 weeks in duration but exact dates of internships are flexible:

Spring (Mid January – Late May)

Job Summary
Our Knowledge Team is dedicated to creating learning experiences that help changemakers succeed in making a difference, from innovation trends reports and interactive resource toolkits to online courses for social entrepreneurs and storytelling skills workshops. We are also responsible for collecting data related to these learning experiences, so that we are constantly improving our offerings. As a Research and Knowledge Management Intern, you will have the opportunity to support this research and knowledge product development, which includes responsibilities like: conducting interviews, creating self-guided learning tools, and writing case studies, reports, and innovation trend articles.

Requirements
Successful candidates will possess most of the following skills and experiences:

  • Analytical and concise, problem-solving skills
  • High level of organizational management
  • Ability to identify gaps in knowledge and identify issues and solutions
  • A passion for knowledge and learning
  • Strong writing, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Research and analytic skills
  • Experience with or knowledge of survey design and/or distribution
  • Adobe InDesign knowledge a plus
