SUMMER 2022 Meta Information Operations Security Analyst Intern

Meta’s Information Operations investigative team is looking for a highly talented and motivated Security Analyst Intern with experience in regional geopolitics and analyzing online threat actors. The team works to understand the global threat landscape and how it manifests on Meta’s family of apps and services. This position is located in Washington, DC, and will begin in Summer 2022.

Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until the position is filled.

Responsibilities

  • Support investigations into assets on Meta’s Products to identify sources of abusive behavior
  • Summarize and present information from investigations and reports to internal teams and help to build and scope networks to stop abuse
  • Gather, synthesize and analyze relevant data, suggesting improvements in the tools and techniques to help scale the team and mitigate future risk
  • Address sensitive content issues, including but not limited to graphic images, videos and writings, offensive or derogatory language, and other objectionable material

Qualifications

  • Pursuing an Undergraduate or Master’s degree in relevant fields such as International Relations, Cybersecurity, Data Analysis, Language, Security and Intelligence Studies, Forensic Psychology, etc.
  • Experience with analytical tools, internet-based research tools, and relational databases
  • Interest in performing complex link analysis based on technical artifacts, and conducting thorough online investigations
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Basic familiarity with SQL
  • Ability and inclination to protect highly confidential information and users’ privacy net
  • Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment
  • Must be currently enrolled in a full-time degree program and returning to the program after the completion of the internship/co-op

Preferred Qualifications

  • Additional language skills beyond English (proficiency in Spanish and/or Portuguese is preferred)
  • Deep understanding of global geopolitics. The preferred region of study in Latin America
  • Familiarity with Python and other scripting languages
  • Familiarity with link analysis tools (Maltego, Palantir, i2 Analyst’s Notebook)
