CSIS Energy and National Security Program Internship

“The CSIS Energy and National Security Program is a leader in understanding and analyzing the shifting global and domestic energy landscape. Our approach seeks to examine and explain the intersection of policy, markets, and technologies through events and projects designed to help decision makers craft smart energy policies that balance economic, environmental, and security priorities.  The CSIS Energy Program is now accepting intern applications for Summer 2017.

 

Essential functions may include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Assist in preparing briefing materials and creating PowerPoints for senior staff presentations
  • Provide research support for individual scholars and projects in areas of expertise
  • Manage logistics for events including preparation, check-in, and Q&A
  • Staff Energy Program events and provide friendly, professional assistance to attendees
  • Attend events and lectures held at CSIS and elsewhere to provide thorough summaries
  • Provide logistical support to the Program staff for variety of administrative tasks, including drafting email correspondence, crafting newsletters, and routine office work

Knowledge, Education & Experience:

  • Must hold bachelor’s degree or higher (graduate degree preferred)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Must have at least a 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) from an accredited U.S. institution or equivalent from a non-U.S. institution
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • BA, MA in political science or international affairs and/or comparable experience.
  • Familiarity with U.S. foreign policy and Washington D.C. foreign policy establishment, defined to include both public and private sector.
  • Strong communications skills, both written and oral.
  • Strong familiarity with data management and knowledge of Excel, Outlook, Power point and other programs.
  • Experience in use of social media for outreach.
  • Experience in event planning.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and plan.
  • Demonstrated ability to be a self-starter and to manage in a fast paced environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity.
