Young Policy Leaders Fellowships, European University Institute

The European University Institute, in the context of the programme leading to a School of Transnational Governance, offers 3 to 12 months fellowships for the academic year 2017-18 to policy makers, civic leaders, civil servants, journalists or young scholars with a key interest in policy issues. Candidates have to be potential leaders in their respective fields and be involved in policy issues, notably at the level of politics, civil service, media, academia or non-governmental organisations.  The Fellowships are open to candidates from all backgrounds and of any nationality. The programme will offer 7 fellowships, of varying duration, for the next academic year.  Candidates can choose between periods of 3, 6 or 12 months and should indicate their preference in the application form.
Candidates are selected on the basis of their CV and a two-page letter of motivation describing their interests and/or links with transnational policy issues, their future professional ambitions and the reasons to apply for the fellowship. The Fellows will be part of the European University Institute, one of Europe’s leading academic and research communities, and will in particular be involved in the activities of the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies  and the future School of Transnational Governance. Fellows are expected to actively participate in the policy-oriented activities of the programme, and in the academic life of the EUI. These fellowships are distinctive in offering to fellows a unique setting and a programme that merges academic and research excellence with policy and practical action and experience. Fellows must reside in the area of Florence for the duration of their Fellowship so that they can take an active part in the activities of the EUI and the fellowship programme. The programme may also include stays and visits to institutions of the European Union and to national institutions.
Deadline for applications: 8 May 2017.  There are two distinct phases in the application process:
