Undergraduate Research Opportunities in Metro Atlanta

The DeKalb Opportunity Zone (OZ), is an initiative whose main goals are to foster education, health, economic, and civic engagement success the Clarkston and Scottdalefamilies it serves. The OZ primarily achieves it goals by connecting and partnering with local community-driven organizations such as Refugee Family Services, Clarkston Community Center, and DeKalb Housing Authority to provide layered services to the families.

The OZ is offering a position for students this upcoming fall in which they can gain invaluable experience in public service, civic engagement, and real life applications of concepts taught in the classroom. Since, workload, time commitment, and deliverables of the position are comparable to a 3-hour course, interested students could potentially set up an undergraduate research for credit or an independent study opportunity. Contact Dr. Kirk Bowman for additional information.
