CULTURE FEST 2009: April 6-9

Sponsored by the Office of International Education, Culture Tech, the Alumni Association and AIESEC, Culture Fest 2009 is a week long celebration of the diverse cultures of Georgia Tech and its surrounding community. This year, Culture Fest will be held April 6th-9th, 2009. In addition to the International Food Festival and International Performance night that have been hosted since 1985, there are two new events. 1. International Food Festival
    Time: April 6th, 11 am-2pm
    Location: Skiles walkway, Campanile
    Cost: $5, only cash or buzzcard accepted
    Description: Over 13 different cultures from around the globe are ready to serve their ethnic food to more than 500 people.

2. International Performance Night
    Time: April 9th 7:30-9:30pm
    Location: Ferst Center
    Cost: Free for everyone
    Description: Emceed by The GTG’s, over 12 different cultural organizations from around Atlanta showcase their musical performances, dances, and other cultural   performances and talents.

3. AIESEC Global Village
    Time: April 6th, 11 am-2pm
    Location: Skiles walkway, Campanile
    Cost: Free for everyone
    Description: Cultural student organizations gather to showcase their customs, traditions, beliefs, and general country information in unique booths. FREE prizes, games and activities including henna and sumo suits!

4. International Film Series
    Time: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, April 6th-8th (all showings 7 to 11pm)
    Location: Clary Theater at the Student Success Center, and Student Center Theater
    Cost: Free for everyone
    Description: Some of the best films from different cultures are chosen to be shown. They will be followed by a discussion, performance, or other related activity. The films are listed below:

Monday, April 6
7 – 11 p.m. Clary Theater (Student Success Center)
BRASA (Brazilian Student Association) will host “City of Men”
BRASA is providing a speaker, potential food donations, as well as a member-facilitated discussion.

Tuesday, April 7
7-11 p.m. Student Center Theater
In collaboration with the French and Francophone Film Festival, French Club will host “Diving Bell and the Butterfly”
Guest Speaker: Dr. Stephanie Boulard of the School of Modern Languages

Wednesday, April 8
7-11 p.m. Student Center Theater
TASA (Taiwanese American Student Association) will host “Eat Drink Man Woman”
Guest Speaker: Dr. Jin Liu of the School of Modern Languages
