INTA Grants for Unpaid Internships and Summer Domestic Travel – Applications due Monday, April 25, 2011

Do you have an unpaid summer internship or a domestic academic seminar or conference you are attending?

Do you need financial support to defray costs related to accepting unpaid internships or travel this summer?

The Sam Nunn School of International Affairs is providing a fixed number of grants to support INTA students participating in unpaid summer internships or attending academic seminars and conferences.  Last year ten students received grants ranging from $250 to $1000 each.

Eligibility: You must be a declared INTA, IAML or EIA undergraduate or graduate student.

Deadline: Application materials should be delivered to Tony Gallego’s office, room 155 of the Habersham Building/Ivan Allen College, by 5 p.m. on Monday, April 25, 2011.

Your application for an INTERNSHIP GRANT should include:

1.  A brief letter of application stating your needs for the grant.  Include your full name, GTID, anticipated graduation date, and if you are an undergraduate or graduate INTA student. The letter should include a description of the internship for which you have applied.

2.  An official internship offer letter/email from the organization for which you will intern. The offer letter should describe the type of work you will perform as well as the start and end date of the internship, and how many hours you will work each week. Students who are still waiting to be notified about summer internships are welcome to apply for grants. If selected, those students will be required to submit an official internship offer letter to receive the grant.

3.  The appropriate financial forms that will allow us to award the grant.  Please see note at the bottom of this email to determine which forms you need to submit. Submitting incorrect forms will delay grant payment.

Include the dates of your travel, the full estimated cost of the travel, and the locations you will visit. Please explain the relevance of the conference or travel to your career plans.

2.  Proof of your registration and attendance at the conference will be required to secure funding. Students who are still waiting to be notified about participation in summer travel are welcome to apply for grants; if selected, those students will be required to submit documentation of their registration to receive funding.
