Atlanta Public Schools has now joined the program. Centennial Place Elementary School, located across the street from campus off Luckie Street.
The Pre-Teaching Program has joined with the neighboring school systems to create a shadow program for Tech students considering pursuing a career as a K-12 teacher. The program gives participants the chance to spend one day with a teacher who teaches a subject of interest. For example, a student hoping to teach Chemistry would shadow a Chemistry teacher. Participating students will spend one day at a high school, middle school or elementary school. Participants could possibly spend one day at each school but would not return to the same school. Students will be able to request a day to visit with two-three weeks advance notice. The Pre-Teaching advisor will be involved throughout the entire process and will coordinate the student and the school before and after the visitation.
