Refugee Family Services AmeriCorps Program
Refugee Family Services is thrilled to be part of a statewide initiative made possible by a grant from the Corporation for National and Community Service.  Our program places AmeriCorps Members to serve in critical programs that provide refugee women and children with the opportunity to regain their self-sufficiency, improve their schools and communities, and emerge from poverty.  14 AmeriCorps members will increase the reach and sustainability of these critical RFS programs: Family Literacy, Computer Literacy, New Arrivals, Volunteer, After-School & Summer Camp, One-to-One Tutoring, Pre-K, Youth Empowered for Success, Refugee Policy and Community Organizing, and Development.


Service Position Summary
Position Title: AmeriCorps Member- Refugee Family Services
Reports to: AmeriCorps Team Supervisor at Refugee Family Services
Position Overview: Minimum 1700 hours of service, for full-time, and 900 for half-time, estimated 35 hours                                 per week (full-time) and some weekends for 12 month position beginning September 2010

Stipend & Benefits
A living allowance of up to $11,400 (full-time members) distributed in equal semi-monthly installments
-Basic health insurance (full-time member only, no dependents)
-Forbearance for qualified federal student loans
-A post service Segal Education Award ($5,350 full-time members, $2675 part-time members)
-Childcare assistance (available for those who qualify)

Minimum Qualifications
U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident
-At least 18 years of age
-Ability to commit to a 12 month service term beginning September 2010
-High School Diploma; GED; College degree preferred
