Position Summary:

MSI is seeking an energetic, professional and organized International Recruiter to join our fun, easy-going team.  The Recruiter will handle full-cycle proposal and project recruitment across a wide variety of regions and technical areas, so should enjoy variety and be able to pick up on new concepts quickly.  Candidates who enjoy recruiting, are interested in trying new ideas and like collaborating with technical and business development teams are encouraged to apply.

MSI’s offices are on houseboats on the DC Waterfront, though we will consider telecommuting for exceptional out-of-town candidates.

RESPONSIBILITIES
·         Full cycle recruiting for overseas (expatriate and local) positions, both for proposals and ongoing programs
·         Drafting/editing position descriptions, screening and interviewing candidates, collecting biodatas/LoCs, checking references and editing CVs for submission;
·         Serve as a part of MSI proposal teams and work closely with the technical writers to select winning staff;
·         Work closely with the rest of the Recruitment team on shared projects and backstop other recruiters as necessary;
·         Guide and advise hiring managers in staffing options and the recruitment process;
·         Represent MSI at conferences, career fairs and panels.

QUALIFICATIONS
·         Prior experience recruiting for USAID funded international development projects and proposals required;
·         Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet and work well under deadlines;
·         Ability to work independently, take ownership for your work and coordinate diverse and far flung teams
·         Must be able to use a computerized, web-based recruitment system (Taleo);
·         Strong writing skills; experience editing key personnel CVs and writing candidate key qualification sections preferred;
·         English fluency required; other language abilities helpful;
·         BA in international studies or related field;
·         Sense of humor and teamwork orientation strongly preferred.

Research Associate (Consultant–Full Time)

EMPEA produces research and industry statistics relevant for private equity practitioners, institutional investors and related stakeholders. EMPEA research is widely used as industry reference data and disseminated in the market via proprietary publications, media articles, conference or workshop content, custom research for EMPEA members and the EMPEA website.

DESCRIPTION
The Research Associate position is initially being offered as a six-month full-time contract, with the potential for extension or for conversion to a permanent position at the close of the contract.

The Research Associate reports to EMPEA’s Research Director and President and works as part of a team that includes analysts, outside consultants, vendors and interns.  The Research Associate supports EMPEA’s efforts to capture, analyze and disseminate via written publications key data and trends about the asset class. The Research Associate will work closely with the Director in the delivery of publications and general management of program operations.

The position entails a high degree of interaction with EMPEA members and other industry stakeholders.  The Research Associate should have a keen customer-service orientation and a well-developed understanding of business development objectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES
The Research Associate will be responsible for authoring content and providing editorial and research support for EMPEA’s suite of research publications, including the EM PE Quarterly Review, the monthly market brief EMPEA Insight, the weekly NewsWatch, periodic industry surveys, press releases, and quarterly and annual statistical reports.

The Research Associate will also support the ongoing development and management of EMPEA’s newly launched proprietary database of private equity firms, funds and investments.  This will include adding to and improving the quality of data in the system and developing bespoke analytics for inclusion in EMPEA-authored articles and presentations.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required
·    A minimum of five years related experience or equivalent
·    An advanced degree in a related field (e.g., MPA, MIA, Journalism, MBA or other)
·    Outstanding research and writing skills, with demonstrated ability to write to an investor audience
·    A keen attention to detail and an ability to translate data into trend analysis
·    Demonstrated understanding of private equity, through work or academic exposure (e.g., research, consulting, journalism—prior work at a PE or VC fund not required)
·    Demonstrated interest in, and understanding of issues and challenges related to conducting business/investing in emerging markets

Strongly preferred
·    Advanced analytical capability; experienced in working with macroeconomic and industry data
·    Background in finance or economics

External Relations Assistant

Job Description
The External Relations Assistant’s primary function is to support the Director and Deputy Director of External Relations in the implementation of communications plans, including media and constituent relations and outreach, event planning, and website management. The External Relations will oversee external relations interns. The individual must be highly motivated, technically savvy, and detail oriented.

REQUIREMENTS:
• BA/BS degree.
• One or more years relevant work experience.
• Legal right to work in the United States.
• Demonstrated interest in foreign policy, national security and/or defense issues.
• Demonstrated interest in media relations, public relations, business and/or marketing.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal and management skills.
• Experience managing a website.
• Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and InDesign.
• Extremely detailed-oriented, and have strong organizational skills and possess the ability to juggle multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
• Willingness to work hard, and put in long hours when required.
• Demonstrate initiative, resourcefulness an ability to think ahead.
• Experience or knowledge of web-based communications and outreach, and/or managing website content.
• Experience working on Capitol Hill or pitching the media a plus.
