Associate Program Analyst – Charity Navigator – Glen Rock, NJ

Charity Navigator, a nonprofit organization recognized as America’s largest independent evaluator of charities, has an immediate opening for an Associate Program Analyst in our suburban Northern New Jersey office. This outstanding individual will be responsible for data collection, research, analysis, and evaluation of the performance of America’s largest charities and will have the opportunity to join an exciting, cutting-edge organization changing the way people give to charity nationwide.

The Associate Program Analyst serves as a key member of our Program Team. Currently, we evaluate over 7,000 charities, in all 50 states, as well as many who operate internationally. This position will allow you to learn how well-run organizations work, to identify areas of weakness, and to maximize your knowledge of a particular set of organizations. The Associate Program Analyst position offers excellent opportunities for a hard-working individual looking to grow with an organization and expand his/her range of skills.

We are seeking an outstanding college graduate for this position. Non-profit, public policy, public administration, economics, or accounting knowledge and experience are highly preferred, but not vital. Must be able to write and communicate well and should enjoy working independently and still being part of a small but high-performing team. Ideal candidates will be excellent problem solvers and have strong quantitative and analytical skills. Most importantly, the candidate must believe passionately in making the world a better place by improving the efficacy and efficiency of America’s charities, and providing charitable givers with a guide they can trust before they donate to charities and non-profits.

Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel a must, knowledge of Access a plus. The ideal candidate will be energetic, positive, dependable, and possess a strong work ethic. Starting salary is $36,000-$38,000, depending on skills and experience, with medical, dental, vision, life insurance (among other benefits), as well as an employer-matched IRA and generous leave policy.

Last year alone, over 3.5 million unique visitors consulted our 6,000 charity ratings for guidance before contributing more than $5 billion in donations. Among others, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and NPR have profiled and celebrated our method of applying data-driven analysis to the charitable sector. Our site is a two-time Forbes award winner for “Best of the Web,” was recognized by TIME Magazine as “One of America’s 50 Coolest Websites for 2006,” was selected by Reader’s Digest as one of the “100 Best Things about America,” and was singled out the last two years by Kiplinger’s Financial Magazine as “One of the Best Services to Make Life Easier. In 2007, BusinessWeek inducted Charity Navigator into its “Philanthropy Hall of Fame” for “revolutionizing the process of giving.”
