About GlobeMed

GlobeMed is a network of university students who partner with grassroots organizations around the world to improve the health of people living in poverty. The GlobeMed network includes 33 chapters at university campuses throughout the country with partners that span the world from Liberia to Nepal. Since 2007, GlobeMed students have raised over $250,000 for public health projects in 21 communities around the world.  Working together in solidarity, these partnerships  have supported programs including community health worker trainings in Guatemala, maternal health education in rural Rwanda and income-generating initiatives in Uganda. Selected as a 2010 “best practice of global health” organization by the Global Health Task Force of the U.S. Summit and Initiative for Global Citizen Diplomacy, GlobeMed is embarking on a period of unprecedented growth and expansion.

Founding a Chapter

GlobeMed is currently accepting applications from passionate and committed undergraduates who are interested in bringing GlobeMed to their university. Chapter Founders will work with advisors from the GlobeMed National Office throughout the year to lay the foundation for a successful and sustainable GlobeMed chapter on their campus.  As a Chapter Founder, you will develop a long-term partnership with a grassroots health organization, establish GlobeMed as a student group at your university, and build a highly-effective team of dedicated students. Working alongside GlobeMed students from across the country, you will be part of a movement of thousands of students who are dedicating their time and energy to improving the health of the impoverished.

Together, we can build a more just and equitable world.

“I’ve watched our chapter grow from an idea into a determined group of students and a powerful voice for change. Together, we’ve helped our partner increase access to health services in Nicaragua. I am proud of and inspired by my peers for taking up the challenge with me and joining the movement for global health equity.”
– Shannon Fuller, Chapter Founder of GlobeMed at Rhodes College.
