Intelligence Research Specialist

Description: The New York City Police Department’s Counterterrorism Bureau is currently accepting applications for the position of Intelligence Research Specialist (IRS), specializing in South Asia, specifically Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India. The successful candidate will be expected to research, analyze, and report on the terrorist threat emanating from that part of the world with an eye toward possible implications for New York City. We are seeking a dynamic, highly motivated, and self-starting individual to serve in this capacity to help protect the City against terrorist attacks.
IRS’s are expected to independently and/or collaboratively develop and share intelligence and other information within the Police Department and with various government agencies investigating terrorist activities. Duties may include accessing classified and confidential information from federal databases, monitoring information from many sources, liaising with field investigators, communicating open source information and analysis to private sector security officials, and developing and implementing programs for the prevention of terrorist activities. IRS’s prepare detailed intelligence reports, presentations, and recommendations for top level law enforcement and government officials.
Qualifications: There are multiple IRS levels based upon the level of experience, responsibility, and expertise required. A Master’s degree or equivalent is highly preferred, though strong candidates with a Bachelor’s degree will be considered. All candidates must have at least 1-2 years of relevant professional work experience in research related to international affairs, intelligence analysis, or a related field. Candidates with specific experience researching terrorist groups, tactics, and ideology in South Asia will be given preference.
All candidates should have proficiency in Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as robust Internet researching capabilities. While a security clearance is not a condition for hire, candidates should generally be eligible for one. Language experience is a plus.

Executive Assistant/Board Liaison

The Atlanta Women’s Foundation (AWF), Georgia’s only public foundation focusing exclusively on the needs of women and girls is seeking an experienced professional to provide administrative and clerical support to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
The Executive Assistant/Board Liaison will report to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and works collaboratively with the Vice Presidents of Philanthropy, Finance and Operations and Community Initiatives and the Director of Communications. The position interfaces with internal and external contacts requiring considerable discretion and initiative and includes human resource work such as orientations, records and invoice processing. The position requires excellent time management skills. This position also requires someone who is self-directed, organized computer proficient, has the ability to manage multiple tasks and holds a commitment to the issues that touch the lives of women and girls.

QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma and at least five years of experience in an administrative assistant position with progressively more responsibility. Edge or other database software is a plus. The candidate should have superior project and time management skills.

Program Associate, Center for Environmental Strategies

The AED Center for Environmental Strategies (CES) is committed to finding sustainable solutions to environmental protection, natural resource management, agricultural, energy, and global climate change issues through a combination of system-wide and individual behavior change methodologies. These include innovative communication, education, advocacy, and social mobilization strategies. Such efforts are driven by a strong commitment to improve or maintain environmental quality as well as the quality of life for diverse communities and groups. CES provides overall program management, expert guidance, and implementation support for a range of development initiatives in the U.S. and worldwide.
Position Summary: The Program Associate coordinates administrative, procurement, and logistics support to projects and the Center overall in the areas of personnel, travel, and other administrative functions, as well as provides support to the finance team.
S/he will also work closely with staff in Washington and overseas, clients, colleagues, and project partners; serve as liaison between CES and Central Services, such as IT and Facilities; assist in the tracking of project deliverables; contribute to Center development efforts and the backstopping of a variety of programs.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Under direction of Operations Manager, assist with coordination efforts backstopping long term expatriate staff in overseas projects, including fielding, shipping, travel, insurance, and other ongoing administrative support;
Coordinate travel logistics for staff and consultants (airline/train/hotel reservations, visas, advances, insurance and travel notification) and prepare and process expense reports;
Assist with providing operational support for field offices, under direction of Operations Manager, including: supporting the procurement process, assisting with personnel actions for local field staff, and providing task support during project start-up and close-down procedures;
Prepare and update project profiles and departmental information, and, under direction of Operations Manager, respond to requests for information from other AED Staff, USAID and externally;
Support proposal development processes; Liaise with the Facilities department to acquire needed services and items for the Center; Edit and format documents, reports, and presentation materials; Perform math check and first review of employee and consultant expense reports, subcontract and vendor invoices;
Prepare payment forms and obtain signatures for processing;
Type wire transfer requests to field offices based on senior finance input, and follow-up with AED accounting staff to ensure the timely transfer of funds;
Match transactions in CES pending folders to transactions on AED invoices to clients; Enter reallocations in module per instructions from senior finance manager;
Provide basic administrative support to Center, including copying and filing; Other job related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Specific Knowledge Requirements:
-Knowledge of government contracting and procurement and experience with USAID awards desirable, but not required.
-Knowledge of Spanish or French desirable.

Skills:
Accurate typing and advanced computer proficiency including word processing (MS Word 6.0/97, Word Perfect), and spreadsheets (Excel, Lotus) in a windows environment.
