FASET and Wreck Camp Staff Applications

If you are interested in developing your leadership skills and sharing your passion about Georgia Tech, then you may want to apply to be a FASET or Wreck Camp staff. As a staff member you will work to guide and empower incomming students.

The application deadline for both staff positions is February 5, 2021 at 11:59 EST.

FASET Orientation Leader

FASET is the welcome program for all incoming students, including first-years, transfer students, and exchange students. The program allows students to enroll for their first semester of classes, discuss transitional issues with current students and college staff, and begin to make connections with other incoming students at Georgia Tech. FASET leaders provide guidence and assistance to these incoming students.

The minimum expectations and responsibilities for FASET Leaders include, but are not limited to:

  • Attending and actively participating in the OL training program.
  • Working as a team with other FASET Leaders, FASET Cabinet, NSTP Professional Staff, and any GT staff and faculty.
  • Participating and assisting with the organization, planning, and implementation of orientation activities throughout the summer.
  • Facilitating group discussions over issues that new students and families may face during their transition to college
  • Responding to student, parent and guest questions.
  • If a student is chosen to return to the FASET Leader staff, they are also expected to provide guidance and share previous experience with new FASET Leaders, lead a FASET Cabinet sub-committee that will be advised by a committee of Cabinet, and assist their Cab Team Leader with the mentoring and group building of their respective Cab Teams.
Qualifications
  • Good academic standing, with a required cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above
  • Good judicial standing with no outstanding judicial sanctions
  • Will be enrolled as an undergraduate student at Georgia Tech at least one additional semester following the summer they are a Wreck Camp staff member
  • Understand and support the purpose of the New Student & Transition Programs office, FASET Orientation Program, and the mission of Georgia Tech
  • Demonstrate the ability to be reliable, responsible, flexible, and willing to help
  • Demonstrate the ability to work and communicate effectively with a diverse group of team members, students, guests, GT faculty and staff.
  • Demonstrate a desire to learn about Georgia Tech and help others learn about GT and how to be a successful Georgia Tech student
  • Demonstrate pride of Georgia Tech and the willingness to share said pride with incoming students and families
  • FASET Leader socials will be held throughout the summer and are optional.
  • Must be present and on time to all training sessions, pre-sessions, and FASET Leader training sessions (unless cleared by NSTP Professional Staff)

Wreck Camp Staff Member

Wreck camp is an extended orientation process for incoming first-years to help aid their transition into Georgia Tech by providing them with a rich social network. A Wreck Camp staff member works to provide guidence to the incoming students and help facilitate the Wreck Camp events. This position requires a great deal of love and passion for Georgia Tech.

The minimum expectations and responsibilities for staff members include, but are not limited to:

  • Attending and actively participating in training.
  • Working as a team with other Wreck Camp staff members, FASET Directors, NSTP Professional Staff, and any GT staff and faculty.
  • Participating and assisting with the organization, planning, and implementation of Wreck Camp throughout the summer.
  • Facilitating group discussions over issues that new students may face during their transition to college.
  • Attending additional meetings to assist with the planning of Wreck Camp during the summer.
  • If a student is chosen to return to the Wreck Camp staff, they are also expected to provide guidance and share previous experience with new staff members, lead a sub-committee that will be advised by the Directors, and assist with the mentoring and group building of their respective Color Teams.
