2011 Merit Scholarship Program

The Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA) is a professional association chartered
in Washington D.C. as an educationally oriented, non-profit technical society. Its mission is (a) to promote
industry-government cooperation in developing Communications, Electronics, Intelligence and Information
Systems; (b) to contribute to the professional development of those in related scientific and technical fields; and
(c) through these activities, to further the security and preparedness of the United States and its allies.
In support of this mission, the Atlanta Chapter of AFCEA will award a minimum of six scholarships of at least
$2,000 each to undergraduate students enrolled full-time in accredited degree-granting four-year colleges or
universities in the metro Atlanta or North Georgia area. Candidates must be enrolled at the time of application.
This is a merit scholarship.
Eligibility: Candidate must be a U.S. citizen and working toward a bachelor’s degree in: Science, Mathematics,
Engineering, International Affairs, Public Policy or Information Technology; and must have a GPA of 2.8 on 4.0
scale or better. Candidate must be enrolled as an undergraduate in a metro-Atlanta or North Georgia area college
or university.

To be considered for the scholarship the following must be provided:
1) Completed application (with essay)
2) Copy of college transcript (Fall 2010)
3) Letter of recommendation from a non-family member who is familiar with the applicant’s character
and career goals.
