Japan U.S. CreativesJapan America Society of Georgia (JASG), and Georgia Tech’s Center for International Business Education and Research (GT CIBER) and Sam Nunn School of International Affairs will host a free showing of NY-based television journalist Kyoko Gasha’s movie “03/11  ‘In the Moment'” which shows how the people of Japan attempt to recover from an earthquake, tsunami and nuclear meltdown that, in the span of a few minutes, wiped out family members, and towns.

The film explores if  a return to anything resembling “normal” is even possible.  03/11  ‘In the Moment'” captures the experience of loss on a massive scale by telling very intimate stories of some of the survivors of the March 11 disasters in Northeast Japan. The film shows the power of nature and its ability to completely destroy pieces of civilization, but it also shows the power of human will to overcome and endure horrific disaster.

The movie is in Japanese with English subtitles so both Japanese and English speakers can enjoy.

Following the showing of the film there will be a Q& A session and reception where Ms. Gasha will answer questions about the film and discuss her life as a journalist in New York.

The Director, Ms. Gasha, has recorded a video greeting for Georgia Tech, which can be viewed here:
